Parr Motorsport had a productive day at Silverstone for the Porsche Carrera Cup GB’s first ever race weekend run on the full Grand Prix circuit. The weather threw a curve ball at all the teams with the first session being wet and the second on dry.
The drivers adapted well the changeable track conditions, using the track time to learn how the circuit evolves as it dries – all useful skills for the weekend ahead. With the second session being dry Sean and Peter were both able to set representable times, finishing the day third in both their groups which bodes well for qualifying.
Sean Hudspeth – FP1 – 5th in PA1, FP2 – 3rd in PA1
“The first session was very greasy and got worse as the track dried. In the second session we were able to go out on slick for the first time and the balance was much better. We haven’t been out on new tyres but the feeling was good. The track was evolving so it was a case of seeing which curbs you can use and where the damp patches are. I felt I could have improved and gone quicker but it’s all useful for tomorrow. They were a few errors today but we know what to do so I’m looking forward to getting it hocked up for tomorrow.”
Peter Kyle-Henney – FP1 – 10th, FP2 – 3rd
“We had a bit of difficulty this morning with the damp track. We struggled a bit but we made some changes on the setup, which improved things. As it became dry for the second session we started to put some good times in so I’m very happy. There is more time in the car and we were running very old tyres and you could feel the car washing out so when we put new tyres on it should be good. It’s going to be changeable weather tomorrow so I think it’s going to be take your pick.”
Josh Webster – Driver Coach
“It’s been a tricky day with the conditions so it is fortunate that we were able to come testing here recently. I think we’ve got the pace. The car was good in the second session. We didn’t run new tyres but we just need to focus on what we are doing, we’ve got some changes to make but I think well be there to challenge. Peter can be top three and Sean an win so we will be up there. Game on for tomorrow.”
Paul Robe – Team Principal
The first session was very mixed sessions and to be fair we were using it just to bank the car so we were comfortable. The second session was dry and we ran old tyres. Sean was up there and I’m certainly pleased with his performance and the same for Peter. They both drove well, there is more to come but I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I think it will be wet which is a little bit annoying however hopefully we’ll be in good shape and we’ll see what qualifying brings.
