Parr Motorsport had a successful day’s testing for this weekend’s two Porsche Carrera Cup races at Oulton Park, with both drivers appearing in the top three in their classes.
Sean Hudspeth went third fastest in the ProAm1 class in the first session and bettered it by going fastest in free practice two. The Singaporean driver had never previously raced on the 7-turn, 2.26 mile circuit, but clearly enjoyed his first experiences of the Cheshire track.
Peter Kyle-Henney returned to the scene of his epic accident during round 5 of last year’s championship and showed immediate pace. His times were fast enough to net a brace of third places in the session, and were very close to the fastest outright pace in the ProAm2 class.
Sean Hudspeth (ProAm1) – FP1 3rd, FP2 1st
“Considering I’ve never been to this track before it was pretty good. I’ve just finished my university exams so I haven’t driven the car for ages but I learnt a lot about the circuit. There is still work to be done and we can in some time, in me and the car. We’ve only had one go in the new tyres so we’ll see how we go on two sets in qualifying.
The circuit is awesome. There is so much elevation change that you don’t appreciate until you drive it. This circuit has character. Its called the mini Nurburgring for a reason, every corner is challenging and enjoyable. For me to be on the pace on my fist visit, I’ve got to be happy about that.”
Peter Kyle-Henney (ProAm2) – FP1 3rd, FP2 3rd
“My return to Oulton Park has gone better than the last time I was here! Free Practice came to us in the end, I was pleased with that and it’s very close. The three of us are all within 0.1 so we know where there is a bit more time to be had. We did a test last week and got a base set up which is good. The car is working well so it was a very good session.”
Josh Webster –Driver coach
“It’s been a really positive day. For Sean, it was good for him to get out in the car again and he came on leaps and bounds, to go quickest in the second session and P11 overall, it was a fantastic day for him. He drove very, very well. Peter also did well and we are now looking at finding hundredths here and there to find a chunk of time but it bodes well for qualifying.”
Paul Robe – Team Principal
“It was a good day. Sean has never been here, never set foot on the place and it’s an uncompromising circuit so you’ve got to drive safely and do a good job to get a result. We are where we want to be and he’s done really well. We are working on areas in which he can improve so we’ll see in qualifying. It wasn’t ideal preparation with him not being able to test so it’s really a case of scoring points but he’s second fastest and I’m really pleased. There is loads more in him.”
“Peter has also driven really well. He’s putting it together and there is a lot of time in him when it all comes together. He’s very close to his competitors so it’s a good result but we know he can do better. The forecast is looking pretty good so it’s all to play for.”
