Parr were approached by our client to inspect this 1973 2.7 RS Touring with a view to returning it to its former glory. On initial inspection the white RS that was presented to Parr looked on the surface to be a good example for a starting point. On closer inspection it was clear that this RS was going to need a complete restoration in order to bring the car up to the required standard. This is how the 2 year project began.
As the RS was Signal yellow from the factory it was decided to return the car back to its original colour and prepare the shell accordingly. The shell was prepared dealing with all the corrosion and replacing the rear arches with genuine RS Porsche parts. The shell was then sent away to be dipped and e-coated before being prepared for painting. All parts stripped from the shell were inspected and tested and were refurbished where possible. For components that were beyond repair, or missing, we sourced genuine parts where possible from around the World. The works list included:
Complete engine strip, rebuild and restore
Complete gearbox strip, rebuild and restore
Wiring harness repaired and remade
Fuchs wheels repaired and refurbished to factory specification
All suspension components refurbished including the original suspension arms being restored
Chrome re-plated on the bumpers and door frames
All rubbers bushes and bearings changed
Complete interior restoration including seats, carpets, steering wheel and dashboard
Car detailed with correct factory decal and engine bay stickers
